BROAD STROKES ON BROAD STREET

ABOUT

The Department of City Planning presented an exhibit featuring Jose’ Awo called Broad Strokes on Broad Street. The exhibit was created to bring increased awareness to Atlanta’s unhoused population. The Broad Strokes on Broad Street events advocated for housing for all using art activism, with a goal of allowing art to draw you in and letting the discussions touch your heart.

PROGRAMMING

Marching band performing on Broad Street

Exhibit Opening, with remarks by former commissioner Tim Keane and former Woodruff Park Program Manager Ansley Whipple, and performances by the South Atlanta High School marching band and singer/songwriter Cody Chesnutt.

Book Club Meeting led by Dericka Webster, Lead Case Manager for Metro Atlanta Red Shield Services, The Salvation Army, and Dorian McDuffie, Public Art Project Manager with the Department of City Planning discussing the book Housing First: Ending Homelessness, Transforming Systems, and Changing Lives.

Panel Discussion featuring Terence Lester, Founder of Love Beyond Walls; Tammy Hughes, former Atlanta Downtown Improvement District Social Impact Director; and Malika Whitley. The panel was moderated by Department of City Planning Public Art Project Manager, Dorian McDuffie.
