EDGEWOOD AVENUE REDESIGN

The City and its partners are working together to improve pedestrian and bicyclist safety along Edgewood Avenue between Jackson Street and Boulevard. Edgewood Avenue is a highly popular nightlife destination, as well as a critical bike route connection between the BeltLine and Downtown Atlanta.

The redesign of this block of Edgewood will repurpose much of the existing center left turn lane space with buffers and vertical protections for the bike lanes. On-street parking will further protect eastbound bicyclists from vehicular traffic. A mid-block crosswalk with flashing beacons will be installed for pedestrians crossing between the intersections. These changes will make this stretch of roadway much safer for all users while retaining Edgewood Avenue’s necessary vehicular functions.
