Speaking of Atlanta: Our Legacy Stories
ABOUT
In April 2019 the Future Places Project was initiated by the Department of City Planning Office of Design. This initiative was implemented to ensure that Atlanta retains its historic identity as the city continues to develop and move forward. This work requires Atlanta to be inclusive all perspective, acknowledging all of Atlanta’s history not just what has been repeated or the predominant history. It is important to dig deep providing equitable space to all that wish to express what they know and to create space for freedom and allow access for those that did not know.
It is with this focus, the Speaking of Atlanta: Our Legacy Stories is developed. This oral program’s objective is to broaden historical information of this city’s events; people who has helped shaped this city but have not been in the spotlight. This objective will allow for differing voices to be heard, expanding ending points of views on the city history and allow for research into areas that have been uncharted.
CITY DESIGN CORE VALUES
Our goal for all of the Projects within the Office of Design is to have our projects demonstrate at least one of the Atlanta City Design core values.
